For the first three weeks of track I ran around 20-25 miles per week with the distance track group. We did a long run, two easy runs, and a short and long workout each week. I competed in only one track meet, running the 1500m and 3000m.

During the second half of track season, I dealt with a stress fracture of my tibia, forcing me to modify my training to biking and spend a lot of time in the trainers office. I continued to support the team, going to meets and cheering everyone on.

Reflection

Although I was not able to do much running this track season, it was still a valuable experience as I was able to learn about the importance of rest. I will take this lesson with me as I continue to run throughout college to prevent further injuries by taking it slowly in returning to running and increasing mileage. I also enjoyed meeting new people and spending time with my teammates on long bus rides and during team dinners.
